Israel troops shoot, kill Palestinian in car-ramming attack

One person was lightly-to-moderately wounded on Wednesday after being hit by a auto in a terror attack at the Gush Etzion Junction on Route 60 in the West Bank.

However, photographs of the scene published by Israeli media showed that the Palestinian vehicle had seemingly collided with the back of a bus.

According to Ma'an documentation, Mashahra is the 19th Palestinian to have been killed by Israelis since the beginning of the year.

Israel's national rescue service said the 60-year-old Israeli man suffered a head injury and was taken to a Jerusalem hospital.

The Israeli army, for its part, said Mashahreh had been shot after carrying out a vehicular attack at the Gush Etzion Junction in the southern West Bank.

Earlier this month, an IDF soldier Sgt. Elhai Teharlev, 20, was killed in a similar car-ramming attack near Ofra in the West Bank.

The incident was the latest in a long list of sporadic street attacks by Palestinians and came six days after a Palestinian man stabbed a British student to death on a tram in Jerusalem.

Israeli officials have said that numerous attackers have done so due to personal problems, with some, like Friday's attacker, hoping to commit suicide by cop or soldier.

The Israeli authorities, meanwhile, say at least 48 Israelis have been killed in attacks by Palestinians over the same period.
