President Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka is endorsing Oprah Winfrey's message, if not a political future, in a recent tweet. "I do think that the speech was a different moment for her.She knew that she met the moment, but the reaction to the speech has been sort of overwhelming to her".
She added, "You always have the right to change her mind". "Really?", and bemoaned the "impossibly boring" current crop of major political figures, making people more likely to vote for celebrities like Mr Trump or Oprah.
Asked about all the presidential speculation suddenly swirling around Winfrey, the typically pugilistic Trump steered clear of nasty nicknames and colorful insults while sizing up such a potential celebrity showdown. Oprah would be a lot of fun.
"I like Oprah. I don't think she's going to run", Trump said.
"I do think she's intrigued by the idea, I do think that", King said on the CBS This Morning program.
In 1988, Trump appeared on the "Oprah Winfrey Show" to promote his then just-released business book-cum-memoir, "The Art of the Deal". "She's not thinking that, 'Oh, since I did this speech, I qualify to be president or I even want to be president'".
"I think we would be a very formidable team", he said.
Even so, for Democrats in early voting states, and perhaps for a public that largely disapproves of Trump's job performance, the notion of a popular media figure as a presidential candidate is not as unusual as it once seemed.
This isn't the first time Winfrey's name has been tossed into the political ring.
In receiving a lifetime achievement award from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Winfrey spoke of her humble upbringing and her childhood respect for civil rights heroes. She also has almost as much money as Trump.
"He thought the reporter said to him, 'Would she make a good president?' And he said, 'Absolutely she would, '" King said. "And I hate to say that, because it's something I feel very strongly about". "Just saw @Oprah's empowering and inspiring speech at last night's #GoldenGlobes". He has also been accused by multiple women of sexual misconduct, though he has vehemently denied the allegations.
Trump has expressed public admiration for Winfrey on other talk shows.
The 64-year-old media mogul has become a cultural phenomenon over the past 30-plus years, born into a poor home in MS but breaking through as a television news and talk show personality in the 1980s. She was born into a poor home in MS but broke through as a television news and talk show personality in the 1980s. "I probably wouldn't do it, Oprah".
On the show Tuesday morning, King said she "was up talking to [Winfrey] very late last night".
Winfrey's presidential history also extends to the previous administration. "I will do whatever it takes because I am so concerned about what's happening, '" she discloses. I will quit my job and campaign for her. That could soften what Palmieri describes as an enduring resistance among some voters to women with political ambition. "I don't think at this point she's actually considering it".
