"I find nothing wrong with" spanking my kids - Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson

Last week, the "Love So Soft" singer relayed her perspective to a Rochester-based radio station, "I'm not above a spanking, which people aren't necessarily into". "That's a tricky thing when you're out in public because people think that's wrong or something".

Mum to 3-year-old daughter River Rose, and nearly 2-year-old son Remington, the singer explained that while other parents aren't about physically disciplining their kids, she see a little spanking as totally acceptable.

Kelly was wrapping up her interview with Ryan Seacrest when she spotted the actress, and immediately went to meet her, asking: "Can I meet you?!" 'My mom would call the principal if I ever ended up in the principal's office and give permission for her to spank me ... "I hope with our two boys and our two girls that they see their parents as successful, loving and respectful people 'cause that's what we want for them".

Clarkson has a 3-year-old daughter, River Rose, and an nearly 2-year-old, Remy, with her husband Brandon Blackstock. "She doesn't do that kind of stuff as often". Then I felt terrible with Michelle Williams and the other women standing there. Others praised her honesty. "Spanking teaches violence", one commenter said.

"I'm a well-rounded individual with a lot of character", Clarkson said.

But some weren't so impressed. But just 26 percent said grade-school teachers should be allowed to spank kids at school. Instead, use appropriate timeouts for young children.

To spank or not to spank - that's the question many parents wrestle with when it comes to disciplining their children. "Discipline older children by temporarily removing favorite privileges, such as sports activities or playing with friends. Hitting a child doesn't teach them anything other than it's ok to hit when you're angry or frustrated".
