Apple has been on a mission to deliver iOS 12.3 to consumers in preparation for the release of its Apple TV+ subscription service, and now the official release has been pushed out to customers.

The iOS 12.3 brings the new Apple TV app to iOS devices and also adds in support for AirPlay2 and more.

What this quote doesn't say implies a detail that hasn't been previously revealed: the version of the TV app available on non-Apple platforms may not offer the full TV app experience.

Up to six family members can share subscriptions to Apple TV channels via the company's Family Sharing feature. In the United States, users can subscribe to channels like Epix, HBO, Showtime, Starz and Tastemade, with more services expected in the future.

"Subscribers can watch and download shows and movies both online and offline, making the Apple TV app the first and only place where HBO subscribers can download movies and shows such as "Game of Thrones" for offline viewing", the post added. While Apple allows third-party developers to upload and sell their apps through the App Store, these apps must adhere to Apple's own guidelines which the company can change or tweak to its benefit any time. Select Samsung smart TVs also get AirPlay 2 support from today. Customers must update to iOS 12.3 or macOS 10.14.5 to play or mirror to AirPlay 2-enabled smart TVs. The Apple TV+ service won't ship until sometime this fall, and Apple hasn't yet announced pricing. Apple is trying to catch up on streaming video to make up for a slowdown in iPhone sales. The app also provides personalized recommendation and curated collections based on users' viewing habits.

The redesign is available on iPhones, iPads, Apple TV and select Samsung smart televisions.

Apple's sales from its services business, which also includes sales from iCloud, the App Store and other businesses, reached $11.45 billion in its most recent fiscal quarter, compared with analyst estimates of $11.32 billion, according to FactSet data.
