Finally you can rest your eyes on a soothing dark background

Jumping onto the black bandwagon, the chat and messaging tool is embracing the dark side and giving users the option to ramp up the darkness.

The dark mode is available for both iOS and Android users of the productivity app.

Screenshots on Twitter show what Slack's dark mode looks on iOS devices, and it's. well, it's looking real dark. We are elated that the new feature is finally available, even if it's limited right now to beta testers. However, it seems that the feature can be activated by anyone who signs up for Slack's beta testing program (via The Verge).

Slack's new dark mode can be enabled through the Settings of the app.

If you're using the Android version of the app, you can enter the settings menu by tapping the three dots at the top right of the main screen.

Slack's dark mode feature has a dark grey color for the feature, instead of true black that is used in the dark mode of other apps. Dark mode works in most parts of the workplace collaboration app, which is really cool. If you have used Facebook Messenger recently, then you know how dark mode was just released as a hidden feature.

You've got a few options when it comes to controlling dark mode in individual Apple apps for macOS too.

Easier on the eyes, the dark mode is.

It's the same with Notes - if you don't like the dark backgrounds dark mode introduces, you can switch back this element via Notes, Preferences, and Use dark backgrounds for note content. Once you have tried the new dark mode in Slack for yourself, we want to know what you think about it. If you did all that and don't see it, try restarting app.
