Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the main difference between Wenger & Mourinho

"Mourinho required a lot from the players", Mkhitaryan told SFR Sport on Friday (9 February).

The midfielder revealed the reasons that encouraged him to leave Manchester United and play for Arsene Wenger, who he expects to learn a lot from.

"Yes. It's a promise I made to my grandfather", he said.

"I don't want to blame anyone. I hope not. I don't know how far he is since his last operation, but I put him there because we had room, I want him there and I want to give him strength as well to fight to come back". "I just have to enjoy myself, do my best and at the end I will see where I can reach".

Mkhitaryan bagged three assists on his home debut - including the pass to tee up Aubameyang for his first Arsenal goal - as the Gunners thrashed Everton 5-1 last weekend to breath a fresh air of optimism into an often frustrated Emirates crowd. "There are loads of points still to play for, so we need to look forward".

"I loved the way that Arsenal were playing at the time, I loved the way Arsene Wenger was treating his players, I loved the way that everything was happening around the club", continued the Armenian global. "I wish. Santi was an exceptional football player".

Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan formed a lethal partnership in three years together at Borussia Dortmund before the Armenian left for an unhappy 18-month spell at Manchester United.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has warned it is too soon to compare the Gunners new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to record-goalscorer Thierry Henry.

"First of all we have to win lots of games".

"In the second half, at the end they were exhausted, they weren't pressing as much and we were creating a bit more space so we had chances".
