In short, if you ask Google Home a question, Google will not be able to help you. Here's what we were told by Google: "We're aware of an issue affecting some Google Home and Chromecast users". Google has confirmed there's indeed an ongoing problem affecting users of these devices, and a fix is on the way.

According to various reports on Reddit and Twitter, the Google Home, Home Mini, and Chromecast simply aren't working for people all around the globe.

For Chromecasts, they are simply no longer showing up as Cast targets when inside apps.

Saying "Hey Google" will have the device immediately answer "there was a glitch, try again in a few seconds" or "sorry, something went wrong, try again in a few seconds". And, if they attempt to reset the speaker, the Homes sometimes can not reboot at all.

A Google glitch has left users across the globe frustrated.

The Twitter account of Google (@madebyGoogle) responded with fervent apologies to the innumerable complaints of the users worldwide but shed no light on the cause of the entire problem or when they could expect for this issue to be resolved.

Now that Google Assistant on the Google Home line of smart speakers understands commands said in Spanish, it should know what "Google Home no funciona" means.

If you're like me, using your Google Home is something that's become part of your daily routine, whether you use it for controlling smart home gadgets or checking on the commute to work.

Affected users have been tweeting at Google for most of the afternoon so it appears the issue is significant enough to sufficiently trouble Google's engineers.
