Once Season 5 of Fortnite comes online later today, we will report back with how the map has changed, and what the new theme of the game is like. There is a new "Desert" biome and two new locations, Paradise Palms and Lazy Links. The ATK has enough room for the player's entire squad, which should make it easier for squad players to outrun the shrinking storm together, or maneuver through the map and strategize a new plan of attack.

If you want to see all of the changes that Epic Games has made to one of the biggest games in the world, check out the patch notes over on the official Fortnite site.

There's also a new vehicle, the All Terrain Kart (the ATK) which will accommodate your whole squad. "You're in for a wild ride". The ATK also features a speed boost after drifting, the roof acting as a bounce pad and passengers in the back being able to help the driver leap over vehicles by leaning back and releasing. It remains unclear how exactly this will work, but it's possible that players will be sucked into a Rift and be teleported to a different location. Shotgun spread is now consistent with no random variation, the suppressed SMG has been amended to fall in line with other SMGs and the hunting rifle aim assist has been reduced to match other sniper rifles.

The company has also seen fit to indicate how many shotgun pellets hit a rival player, providing more context as to why a point-blank shotgun shot only registered 8 damage.

Epic Games has also nerfed the "double pump" strategy yet again, as another shotgun will not be able to be fired for "a very short time" after firing another one.

The new Battle Pass also launches with Season 5, and as ever it can only be purchased in-game and costs 950 V-Bucks. As the storm closes in, the center can shift and shrink to a new location, so you'll have to pay way more attention now.
