According to Deadline, May, who acted as executive producer on Bohemian Rhapsody, said: "The mistake that critics made was reviewing the trailer instead of reviewing the film".

The next few weeks are now crucial with the start of voting for the Academy Awards.

In television, the big winners were Cold War spy thriller "The Americans", limited series "The Assassination of Gianni Versace", and new Netflix comedy "The Kominsky Method". The Netflix show's star Michael Douglas won best actor in a TV series (musical or comedy) for playing an ageing acting coach.

Some blamed the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which awards the Golden Globes, and Twentieth Century Fox for celebrating a man who is accused of sexual assault and who did not complete his job on the film that was being honored. Watch his grateful and humbling acceptance speech here!
