Final Four includes three powerhouses and one Cinderella — March Madness

We started with 68 teams and now we're down to the Final Four. I have been saying in previous previews that Kansas State chances improve greatly if star Dean Wade can play, but here we are in the Elite Eight and still no Wade, so maybe this wasn't as important as I originally thought.

"I'd prefer more games like that", coach John Beilein said afterward. There would be no need for that in the Sweet 16 as the Wolverines dismantled Texas A&M by 27 points and looked like one of the best teams left standing.

"I do think they're going to win today". We now know the television schedule for next weekend's festivities.

Underdogs have gone 13-3 against the spread with nine outright wins over the last three days of the NCAA Tournament, going 7-1 ATS on Sunday and 3-1 ATS on both Thursday and Friday.

No. 11 seed Loyola-Chicago, most notably now known for Sister Jean, won the South Region and will face No. 3 seed MI, the victor of the West Region. "I don't think we'll see any more, but I'd prefer it".

As for his Barack-et this year, it was excessively chalky and he picked Michigan State (ooh, too bad he added that "State") to win it all.

For the record, MI has won 12 straight and hasn't lost since falling at Northwestern on February 6.

Barry Brown's tiebreaking layup with 19 seconds remaining helped No. 9 seed Kansas State beat No. 5 seed Kentucky, 61-58, in the South Region semifinal in Atlanta on Thursday night. Each team is given a 1 to 16 seed.

Texas Tech's Zach Smith, right, defends as Villanova's Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree goes up with the ball during the first half of an NCAA men's college basketball tournament regional final, Sunday, March 25, 2018, in Boston.

CONFERENCE BREAKDOWN: The Big 12 and ACC are leading the way entering the Elite Eight. Zone has been the Blue Devils' defense of choice since mid-February.

FAIL: ESPN says there were 17.3 million entrees into its bracket contest. Through just the first weekend of play, not one person was left with a ideal bracket, and only one picked 15 of the final 16 teams. So maybe you don't have to feel so badly about your up-in-smoke picks?
