United Kingdom lawmaker Angela Eagle launches challenge to Corbyn to lead Labour Party
Mr Corbyn said he was "disappointed" that Ms Eagle was launching a challenge for his post and urged her to "think for a moment" about her plans. Her bid looks set to trigger civil war within the party and comes after 172 Labour MPs indicated that they had no confidence in Corbyn in a vote which saw him win the support of just 40 Westminster colleagues.

However, the leader does have a considerable mandate from the party's members - and if he is automatically included on the ballot paper, it could prove hard for Angela Eagle or any other contenders to defeat him in a vote. He has destroyed the Labour Party and it is a awful, terribly sad day for anybody who believes in opposition to the Tories, anybody who believes in the history and tradition of the Labour Party and all the Labour Party's achieved.
