Ederson being assessed after nasty collision with Sadio Mane

Guardiola absolved Mane of any intent and said Ederson had escaped serious injury.

Ederson was caught in the face by Sadio Mane's high kick as he swept up a long through ball in the 37th minute at the Etihad Stadium.

Mane had an excellent debut season past year following his £34 million move to Anfield from Southampton, finishing the season with 13 goals in 27 league games for Jurgen Klopp's side.

Mane was dismissed and Ederson stayed down to receive treatment for several minutes before being taken off on a stretcher, with his side subsequently going on to take a 2-0 lead into the half-time break.

"I think it has not broken the bone". "I don't know if he will be more handsome after that".

He added: "Maybe he won't play in the next game".

"Their midfield have plenty of energy, lots of strength and intensity and I think with Salah and Mane on the counter-attack, they will be very risky", he added.

"I don't know if it's a red card, but I'm pretty sure the red card for Kyle Walker against Everton was not".

The incident came with City leading through a Sergio Aguero strike.

Guardiola was delighted with his side's ruthlessness as they inflicted Klopp with the worst defeat of his Liverpool career.

Mane opened his goal scoring account for the season during Liverpool's first match of the season, which was an entertaining 3-3 draw with Watford as he scored an equalizer on the day, midway through the first half. We read the situation quite well.

And boss Jurgen Klopp announced the Brazilian would not be in the squad for tomorrow's game, meaning Mane and Salah will get another chance to show what they can do.
