Donald Trump unveils Mike Pence as running mate

Pence headed back to IN later IN the day, where he urged supporters to vote for Trump whom he called a good man who will make a "great president".

They say Mr Pence has actually "abandoned" Hoosiers, despite what Mr Trump said on Saturday (July 16) when he officially announced his pick.

"I agree entirely that given what he needs to get done, Mike Pence will do much more to unify the party than I would", Gingrich said after speaking at the New York Republican Party's breakfast before the start of the Republican National Convention.

Trump hailed Pence's work in Indiana.

"The American people are exhausted", Pence said in remarks that included numerous same talking points that until recently he was using in his bid for re-election. Stahl asked Pence about his view on Trump's call for a temporary ban on Muslims. "What a difference between crooked Hillary Clinton and Mike Pence".

"We are going to get rid of ISIS, big league", Donald Trump tells Lesley Stahl, and Trump's vice presidential choice, Mike Pence, says it can be done.

"We were prepared to respond with the many ways in which Mike Pence is the most extreme pick in a generation-a doubling down of Trump's divisive rhetoric and policies". Chris Christie of New Jersey were also finalists, and both men have closer personal ties to Trump. "He looks very good", Trump added, discussing Pence's appearance.

In speech of more than 20 minutes, Trump frequently deviated from Pence. "And this campaign and Donald Trump's candidacy has been about the issues the American people care about". Stahl asked. But Trump jumped in.

Pence has significant support among the religious right, which could be vital to Trump, who has so far failed to sway that key pillar of the Republican Party. "I come to this moment deeply humbled but with a grateful heart", he said, "Grateful to God for his wonderful grace". "If I would have had it then, you talk about getting hit on, it would have been so inappropriate". Well, I speak from my heart and my brain.

"And what happened is I delayed it a day for that", he said. I'll tell you what. "Just so we understand".
