Giants cornerback Dominique Rodgers Cromartie is suspended

"He came in today, chose to leave. we will suspend him".

The cornerback signed a five-year, $35 million deal with the Giants before the 2014 season.

The New York Giants suspended cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie after he left the team's facility and did not practice Wednesday.

"DRC came in (Tuesday), we had a conversation that was personal upstairs and he came in (Wednesday) and chose to leave", McAdoo said during a Wednesday press conference.

According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, Rodgers-Cromartie had a conversation with McAdoo on Tuesday and again on Wednesday, when he ultimately made a decision to leave practice shortly after he got there. "We will suspend him".

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Twitter that DRC got into a heated argument with Giants head coach Ben McAdoo on Sunday after getting pulled from the game, a 27-22 loss to the San Diego Chargers that dropped winless NY to 0-5. Rodgers-Cromartie tells ESPN's Josina Anderson he plans to rejoin the team on Thursday.

"I wasn't happy", Apple said after the game about being benched (via USA Today).

McAdoo provided no other details about why Rodgers-Cromartie opted to go home but Art Stapleton of The Record (N.J.) reports that he was upset with his current usage as a slot corner.

At 0-5, the New York Giants are going nowhere fast.

There was also an altercation during the Giants' loss to the Chargers.

The Giants have a bye after that, so Shepard would conceivably get three weeks to treat his left ankle injury before returning to action.
