Dale Steyn returns to RCB, replaces Nathan Coulter-Nile

Preview Virat Kohli

It is really baffling to see RCB keep Coulter Nile for so long when a much needed back up and a replacement was required at an earlier stage.

Dale Steyn loves a tease and his recent post on Instagram flaunting an Indian visa drove his fans in the subcontinent wild as they started speculating that the South African speedster is on his way to join Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Steyn went unsold at the auction but will now be available to play an IPL game after a two-year gap.

The Sportsrush presents before you the Head-to-Head statistics for 28th match of IPL 2019. He is all set to return to Bangalore where he has played from 2008-2011. He last played in the league for Gujarat Lions in the IPL 2016.

In 2017, he picked career-ending shoulder injury in Australia which further kept him away from the world's most successful T20 league like IPL.

The decision by RCB to bring back Dale Steyn is definitely due to his current form in worldwide cricket. However, on his road to recovery, Steyn has delivered well against Pakistan and then Sri Lanka in the global fold. Kohli, who was recently named the Leading Cricketer of the year for the third successive time by Wisden Almanack, will hope that fortunes finally knock at the doors of RCB as they need to win all their next eight matches to salvage any hope of making it to the play-off. They have lost all the 6 matches and are on the verge of bowing out of the tournament even before the half-stage.

Meanwhile, in the day's other match, England vice-captain Jos Buttler smashed 89 off 43 as Rajasthan Royals secured a four-wicket win against Mumbai Indians in Mumbai.
