Two Coast Guard Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessels, Two Interceptor Boats and Aircraft pressed have been deployed for Search & Rescue operations by Indian CoastGuard.

Singh had called up the chief minister and sought details on the damage caused by the the cyclone, an official release said.

In Tamil Nadu meanwhile, over 500 trees were uprooted as a result of the cyclone in Kanyakumari district, killing four residents. Power and communication networks remain hit while roads remain unsuitable for transportation, a police officer told Mirror.

Chennai: Heavy rains continued to batter coastal areas of Kerala and south Tamil Nadu, crippling normal life, even as Cyclone Ockhi lay centered about 80km north-northeast of Minicoy in Lakshadweep.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the cyclonic storm is steadily progressing towards South Kerala and adjoining districts of south Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep Islands. It is very likely to continue to move west-northwestwards during the next 24 hours and then recurve northeastwards during the subsequent 48 hours.
