Clippers Slack Chat: Kawhi Leonard resting shouldn’t upset everyone

Charlotte Hornets v Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers lost last night's game against the Bucks, 129-124.

"The NBA has fined the Clippers $50,000 for statements, including by head coach Doc Rivers, that were inconsistent with Leonard's helath status". "We want him to just keep feeling better and getting better". Doc Rivers said Kawhi feels great, but only thanks to being able to take time off.

In a statement announcing the fine on Thursday, the league said it continued to believe that Leonard has an injury but questioned Rivers' remarks.

Following additional review of the LA Clippers not playing Kawhi Leonard in last night's game against the Milwaukee Bucks, the National Basketball Association has confirmed that the team's decision to sit Leonard for management of an injury was consistent with league rules.

The number of people calling out the Clippers was so substantial that the league had to step in and support the team's decision. The Clippers haven't be fined and are compliant with that policy because they listed the reason for Leonard's absence not as "rest", but "load management" of a knee, which falls under the category of injury or illness. "I'm a Clipper, he's my coach".

Leonard has yet to play a back-to-back since April 4 and 5, 2017. He had 27 points and 13 rebounds in a nationally televised 107-101 win over Portland on Thursday night. "I'm not a doctor and that's for what the doctors and my training staff is for, letting me know and just telling how I feel and just got to keep moving it forward". Leonard then played in 24 postseason games, averaging 30.5 points and 9.1 rebounds to lead Toronto to its first championship and earning Finals MVP honors.
