Victory over Montenegro at Wembley would seal qualification in what will be England's 1,000th worldwide.

A point at Wembley against Montenegro in the 1,000th global match for the men's team would be enough to guarantee qualification.

Southgate said Maddison, who was out until the early hours of the morning before England's 2-1 loss in the Czech Republic, learned a valuable lesson about the increased spotlight surrounding the player and vowed to speak to him ahead of the upcoming games.

"It wasn't a great decision he took (going to a casino)".

England manager Southgate insists Kyle Walker's global career is not over despite omitting him for a third-successive squad.

"Everyone has a camera phone and has a chance to make some money. He's got to come into the squad and fight for his place like anyone else".

Southgate is eager to see how the Manchester City defender performs in Sunday's top-of-the-table clash at Liverpool.

Asked whether Manchester City full-back Walker's England career was over after amassing 48 caps, Southgate replied: "Absolutely not".

If Mount misses out Southgate could hand an global lifeline to Tottenham's Alli.

The Liverpool midfielder has scored four goals in his past four games.

There is a concern over the fitness of Mount, who limped with an ankle injury during midweek's insane 4-4 draw at home to Ajax, but Barkley has been a favourite of Southgate in recent times and could cement his place in the starting line-up at Wembley.

The Chelsea youngster was called up to the England Under-21 squad last month following his return from an Achilles injury.

Everton defender Michael Keane has also been left out, while in-form Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish's long wait for a call-up continues.
