Chad Morris signed, sealed and soon to be delivered

SMU coach Chad Morris

So when Arkansas officially hired Chad Morris on Wednesday, it was a win-win for all involved.

While we can't independently confirm Arkansas and Morris have reached an agreement, ESPN has two reporters confirming the news. Morris' overall record since starting at head coach at SMU is 14-22, and 8-16 in the AAC.

Just more than a week after ending the 2017 season with a 4-8 record and firing their head coach, Arkansas has found their new leader of the football program. This season, Morris' third with the program, the Mustangs will play Louisiana Tech in the Frisco Bowl, the program's first bowl appearance since 2012.

Morris has served as the head coach for the SMU Mustangs since 2015 after leaving his offensive coordinator position at Clemson University. He was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Clemson from 2011-2014. The Tigers also posted the top three scoring seasons in school history, as well as four of the program's top five passing seasons, during that time.

The Razorbacks are looking for a replacement for Bret Bielema, who was sacked last month.

"The future is tremendously bright at the University of Arkansas with the addition of Chad Morris", Razorbacks athletic director Hunter Yurachek said in a statement. It was the only win over a ranked opponent in Morris' tenure at SMU. Norvell agreed to a contract extension at Memphis earlier Tuesday, and the Morris hire came into picture soon after.
