Johnson, 25, injured his wrist in the third quarter of the team's 35-23 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday at Ford Field. Johnson's workload in 2015 was significantly more substantial, as he had just shy of 200 carries for over 800 yards.

The Arizona Cardinals placed running back David Johnson on injured reserve Tuesday amid reports that he will undergo surgery to fix a dislocated wrist. On their first drive against the Detroit Lions, quarterback Carson Palmer threw an ugly interception. He had 18 carries all of last season. He finished 2016 with 1,239 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns, and he added 879 yards and four touchdowns through the air.

Johnson sought a second opinion after an early prognosis of a dislocated wrist. Chris Johnson was cut by the Cardinals after the preseason. "Andre was good, Kerwynn (Williams) looked good, our young guys, we will see what we've got".

Well, he's not going to be a fantasy monster for quite a long time this year.

Before getting injured Sunday, Johnson was on his way to having a nice game.

Chris Johnson will get some playing time probably until they realize he's ineffective. "It played a factor on the fumble on his next touch". Teams with IR slots should certainly stash Johnson for a potential playoff run, but teams with short benches have a tough decision on their hands.

"It's always a huge blow to lose a top player, but it's not the end of the world", Arians said at his Monday news conference.
