BSF jawan martyred in cease fire violation by Pakistan

Indian Army is strongly retaliating to the ceasefire

A BSF soldier was killed as Pakistani troops resorted to heavy shelling and firing on border out posts (BoPs) and civilian areas along the International Border in Jammu district on Friday.

Pareekh said that intermittent fire continued from both sides from since mid night.

A BSF official said Pakistani troops breached border ceasefire in Arnia sector of Jammu region in the midnight.

"Pakistan under the cover of bullets is trying to push infiltrators on our side but our jawans are keeping vigil and will not allow them to succeed in their nefarious design", said the BSF officer.

"One BSF trooper has been executed in truce infringement by Pakistan officers". He is a native of Vidya Bhawan Naraypur village in Balia district of Uttar Pradesh. He is survived by his wife Sushmita Singh.

Last year, Indian and Pakistani soldiers engaged in some of the worst fighting along the Line of Control since the two nations agreed to the cease-fire accord. One civilian too has been injured in the incident. The firing, he was told, took place in Phulian sector on the Pakistani side of the de facto border and that also three persons including a woman were injured. Incidents of ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops have increased sharply this year. Until August 1, there were 285 such activities by the Pakistan armed force, while there were 228 in all of 2016, as indicated by the Indian Army, said PTI.
