Beating England not priority for Belgium boss Martinez

There are big expectations of Belgium's Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne

England fans were brimming with confidence ahead of the Three Lions' World Cup group decider against Belgium, whose fans feared the threat of Harry Kane.

England is 8-1 to win the World Cup after opening at 25-1, while Belgium is a 13-2 World Cup favorite after opening at 15-1.

England fan Will Tomlinson, 34, who has travelled to Russian Federation, said he hoped for an English influx as the team progressed through the tournament.

Former Premier League referee Mark Halsey admits that he was once asked to book a player who had one eye on upcoming games, with it possible that a similar situation could unfold in Kaliningrad.

"They have earned the right to start in a World Cup, and I believe we are going to be as good as the contribution of the 23 players, so tomorrow is a good opportunity for us as a team".

"His scoring record of goals per game is outstanding", said Southgate.

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez has already revealed he could make as many as nine changes for the game, but Gareth Southgate would not be drawn on how many he would make, despite confirming Eric Dier would make his first start.

The Group G winners will be on the side of the draw that includes big names Argentina, France, Portugal and Brazil, while the only pre-tournament favourite on the runner-up's side is Spain.

Loew, who led his side to glory against Argentina in the 2014 World Cup final in Brazil, refused to be drawn on his future in the immediate aftermath of Wednesday's result.

"I love this match, England/Belgium to decide something because if this match decides something it will be a match full of friends", Mourinho says.

Speaking before the game, manager Southgate said he wanted to "breed a mentality that everybody in our squad wants to constantly win".

"We have to go out to play well in every game and to try and win every game".

"Why we are starting to plot which would be a better venue for our semi-final is beyond me, really".

The two teams have the same number of points, goals scored and goals conceded, so the only way to separate the teams is on Fair Play - who has the fewest red and yellow cards. "I don't think he will be training today, and we will make a final assessment tonight".

"The priority is not to win", Martinez said. If they pick up a yellow card in this game, they will be suspended for the Round of 16 encounter, so Martinez may not risk them either, especially Vertonghen.
