Bears say quarterback Trubisky has right shoulder injury
Nov 23 2018
"Mitchell Trubisky woke up sore today and with less movement in his shoulder than expected, making it likely Chase Daniel will start Thanksgiving Day vs Lions, per source".
Daniel hasn't started or played extensively in an National Football League game since 2014, and might start for Trubisky because of a right shoulder injury sustained in the fourth quarter of Sunday night's 25-20 Bears victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Daniel has been preparing to start against the Detroit Lions since Trubisky's status was known on Monday.
Earlier this week, Bears head coach Matt Nagy noted he was "cautiously optimistic" that Trubisky would play in Week 12.
"Yeah, no, I'm sure you guys can understand, I'm not going to get into the actual details of everything with his shoulder", he said. I hope he does.
"We feel right now it's a day-to-day thing with him", Nagy said.
The Redskins will be without their starting quarterback Thursday after Alex Smith suffered a season-ending leg injury last Sunday.
"It's a fun time", Nagy said.
Daniel has more urgency than usual in a week when Chicago didn't really hold an official extensive practice. The Vikings would score two touchdowns near the end of the game, but it was too little, too late and the Bears walked away with a comfortable division lead with just six games remaining.
-Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters safety Eric Berry could make his season debut when his team returns to action following the bye week.
Having looked absolutely lifeless in the past three weeks, the Lions clung to life with a win over the Carolina Panthers at home this past Sunday that helped them move to 4-6 on the season. "Yeah, we have a great relationship, so when it comes to that we trust each other pretty well".
Trubisky was 23 of 30 passing for a career-high 355 yards with three touchdown passes in a 34-22 victory over Detroit on November 11, ending a three-game losing streak versus the Lions. Chicago and Detroit have split their previous 16 Thanksgiving meetings.
