Arsenal have had at least one formal bid for Dayot Upamecano rejected

Arsenal target Kieran Tierney is ideal if Unai Emery wants to play a back four- Winterburn

Emery is desperate to add a defender to the ranks at the Emirates before the English transfer window closes on Thursday evening, and that remains Arsenal's priority despite ongoing suggestions that they could take Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona.

The 25-year-old has struggled for regular game time at the Nou Camp last season and after being plagued by injuries, he fell behind Clement Lenglet in the pecking order.

Pedulla says Arsenal are now trying to find an agreement with Juventus with the two clubs discussing an initial two-year loan deal with an obligation for Arsenal to make the move permanent for £36m (€40m) in 2021.

Juventus initially rejected the deal, but Arsenal is bent to pursue Rugani.

A meeting has been held between the club and his representatives.

They are looking at a number of options but no signing is imminent at Molineux for the moment. The most recent bid by the Arsenal has apparently met the valuation, but the Scots did not agree with how the bid was structured and will only allow their star to leave if cash is offered upfront.

So far Arsenal have made two unsuccessful bids for Kieran Tierney and if reports are to be believed then they could be launching a third one.

Arsenal's summer budget has been heavily dented by the £72m deal to sign Nicolas Pépé and there are doubts over whether or not the north London club can still afford a defender.

The Gunners are pushing to bolster their defense before the transfer window closes on August 8.
