Laurent Koscielny has gone on strike at Arsenal after a bitter row erupted between himself and the club over their proposal of a new contract.

The 33-year-old has already caused uproar among Arsenal fans, after refusing to travel with the club for their pre-season tour of the United States.

"We are very disappointed by Laurent's actions, which are against our clear instructions", a club statement read.

Arsenal says it was working to resolve the matter.

However, their captain Laurent Koscielny refused to travel with the team.

For a player of Koscielny's stature in the Arsenal dressing room, this can be classed as nothing but a disappointment. Let us know in the comments section below. His unusual behaviour has deeply upset the Arsenal management, who released a statement condemning his non-sporting behaviour.

The centre-back suffered a serious knee injury against Atletico Madrid in May 2018, ruling him out of France's victorious World Cup winning campaign that summer, before he returned to action last December.

After this, the relationship broke down between the Frenchman and Arsenal, with Koscielny now refusing to travel on the Arsenal tour.

They also offered him the option to leave for free next summer and insisted his new contract could see him earn more if they qualified for the Champions League.

Bordeaux have reportedly offered Koscielny a three-year deal.

Arsenal are set to announce the signing of 18-year-old Saint-Etienne centre-back William Saliba for £26.5 million ($33m), having fought off competition from north London rivals Tottenham for his signature.

While Koscielny is not the same player he once was, at 33, he was still putting in good performances past year.
