Kelly will get six games after throwing at Austin, and Austin will get five games after charging Kelly on the mound.

Both Kelly and Austin are appealing their suspensions, so they are eligible to play the meantime. Tyler Austin, the Yankees DH, would start the fire with a hard slide into second base during the third inning.

Tyler Austin #26 of the New York Yankees fights Joe Kelly #56 of the Boston Red Sox during the seventh inning at Fenway Park in Boston on April 11, 2018.

The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees brought some snarl back to their storied rivalry this week, and it's a welcome change from the past few years of genteel, gentlemanly back and forth.

Oh, and they also played and completed the game on Wednesday, a 10-7 win for the Yankees, avenging Tuesday's 14-1 embarrassment at Fenway.

The sinkerballer was sensational, twirling seven shutout innings, as the Red Sox cruised to a 6-3 victory over the Yankees. The Red Sox said X-rays did not indicate a fracture. The Red Sox got a run back in the bottom of the first on a Hanley Ramirez home run, his second.

"I felt great", he said.

Holt was clipped by Austin's spike and didn't like it, the benches and bullpens emptying with no real fracas.

"We're moving on, " Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. Previous year when the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers fought each other and suspensions followed, Miguel Cabrera, who was at the center of the fight, was suspended seven games for inciting the fight.

"It seemed like he threw everything where he wanted to throw it", Boston first baseman Mitch Moreland said. As a player for the Yankees, Austin predictably got pretty triggered so he charged the mound and just like that, the benches cleared.

Major League Baseball has levied punishments for Kelly and Austin.

Porcello induced Didi Gregorius to fly to right and finished his outing by striking out Gary Sanchez and Aaron Hicks. Martinez. Still, he was the winning pitcher at the end of the day, the beneficiary of the big bats igniting the offense: Judge was 2-4 with a walk, Giancarlo Stanton 2-5 with three RBIs and Sanchez was 3-5, with the two homers and a double. Two others were ejected in the melee: Yankees pitcher Tommy Kahnle and Nevin.

I stayed up for a while after that, deep into the night, telling myself it was just one game.

But on Thursday, MLB would make their ruling.

Red Sox: RHP Rick Porcello (2-0, 2.84 ERA) has won each of his two starts this season. In 114 appearances with Boston (41 starts, 73 relief appearances), Kelly owns a 22-9 record with a 4.37 ERA.
