American Horror Story: 1984 will premiere September 18 on FX.

On Thursday, marking the first day of filming on the new "1984" season, creator Ryan Murphy shared the official cast announcement in video on Instagram.

Ready the Aqua Net, sequins and skinny ties because more details have emerged about "American Horror Story: 1984", the next chapter in FX's popular anthology series. Ross just took her final bows on Pose with this week's episode. Joining Roberts, Morrison, and Villa in Murphy's first look teaser are Cody Fern (whom you'll remember as Michael Langdon from American Horror Story: Apocalypse) and Billie Lourd (the gal who played Winter Anderson on American Horror Story: Cult and Mallory on Apocalypse).

Emmy victor and series alum Sarah Paulson (Ratched, The Goldfinch) will not be starring in the new season along with Evan Peters (X-Men film franchise), the first time that Paulson and Peters haven't appeared in the series since its inception. Glee vet Matthew Morrison and Pose star Angelica Ross, who have both worked with Murphy's other shows, have also signed on as series regulars for 1984.

And another American Horror Story star, Evan Peters, recently confirmed that he would not be taking part in season nine.

While there isn't much solid information about the plot available, the summer camp setting shown in the teaser suggests that it will pay homage to the slasher films of the 1980s.

Or all of this could be a red herring.
