Amazon pop-up to open at metro Detroit Whole Foods Market store
Nov 12 2017
The move gives Amazon, which bought Whole Foods this summer, another place where shoppers can touch or try out its gadgets during the holiday shopping season. According to a Whole Foods Market spokeswoman, pop-up stores will land inside stores in Oakland, Cupertino, San Mateo, Los Altos, Redwood City, San Jose, Campbell and Palo Alto. The retail holiday has largely become an online thing as many people choose to skip the cold weather and long lines altogether, but that doesn't mean there won't be deals in physical stores.
On Thursday, Whole Foods announced that it would sell Amazon products at major discounts the week leading up to Black Friday at more than 100 locations.
Amazon has already started placing its tech products inside some Whole Foods grocery stores, but the Amazon-staffed pop-ups will make for a bigger presence in the grocery chain. Amazon Pop-Up stores in Chicago, Rochester Hills, Michigan, Davie, Florida, Pasadena, California, and Denver, Colorado will give customers the chance to test products before buying. The new Echo Plus will get a $30 discount, and various Kindle models will also see price cuts of up to $30.
