Norfolk airport announces nonstop flights to Florida

Beginning November 25, Allegiant will offer service from South Bend to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport in Florida. The seasonal route will operate twice weekly.

To celebrate the new addition, Allegiant is offering one-way fares on the new routes as low as $59 for flights between August 14 and May 12, 2020.

The seasonality of the service matches the traveler surge to the area by winter-weary vacationers. The flights will operate twice weekly and are expected to bring almost 29,000 passengers to the Punta Gorda area annually, contributing to visitor spending in the local economy, the release states.

MidAmerica Airport Director Tim Cantwell said the new route strengthens Allegiant's presence in Southern Illinois and will continue to grow the airport's customer base.

Allegiant announced Tuesday service from Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) to West Palm Beach, Fla. beginning November 25. Allegiant also providesd service to Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Myrtyle Beach, New Orleans, Orlando-Sanford, Punta Gorda, Saint Petersburg-Clearwater and Savanna-Hilton Head.

After just three years in Flint, Allegiant has become Bishop's most popular airline, accounting for more than 40 percent of all departures in April.
