Akon Signs Agreement To Build His Own City In Senegal

The 46-year-old musician who has made a name for himself as an entrepreneur in the recent past expressed enthusiasm at closing the deal for "Akon City, ' a 'renewable" city with a focus on solar energy.

The city, which is estimated to cost about $2 billion, will be built on the 2000 acres of land that was given to Akon by the President of Senegal. "Looking forward to hosting you there in the future", he wrote on social media.

The futuristic green city has a ten-year building plan and has been in the construction phase since March 2019, he explained in an interview with Nick Cannon.

The Senegalese descent announced on Monday that he just finalized the agreement for Akon City in Senegal. He's creating his own city in the African nation of Senegal. It's called Akon City, it has its own cryptocurrency, it's apparently a five-minute-drive from the West African state's new worldwide airport, and he's looking forward to hosting us.

The Akon City will also operate on renewable energy with Akon Solar project with own worldwide airport, which is not far from Senegal's capital, Dakar.

The city has been likened to Marvel's fictional-superhero movie, Wakanda, which is uniquely different from the world.

As well as cryptocurrency, Akon City will rely heavily on blockchain - the technology which underpins bitcoin and other digital currencies.

In 2018, Akon said he believes Akoin could be the "savior of Africa".

We're so pleased to hear that the last dotted line was signed and "Akon City" is finally coming to fruition. It is reported that the city which is called the "futuristic" city in Senegal, will run exclusively on renewable energy.

The project is expected to be completed in a period of 10 years with the first stage set to be achieved by the year 2025.

The star previously started the Lighting Africa project in an effort to provide solar energy to the continent.
