Former Tamil Nadu chief minister O Panneerselvam's son and brother have rushed to the Madras high court with an anticipatory bail petition, fearing arrest in connection with a rioting and criminal intimidation case registered against them by the R K Nagar police.

The Election Commission has frozen the AIADMK's two-leaves symbol and the party name for the by-election. Note how the two lights symbol has been perched on #Jayalalithaa's dummy body.

Chennai: Deprived of the two-leaf election symbol of AIADMK, the camp of Jayalalithaa loyalist O Panneerselvam has hit upon a macabre way to reiterate their claim of being the inheritors of her legacy.

The AIADMK (Amma) had complained to the EC that the other faction was describing its "Electric Pole" symbol as Two Lamps with an intention to create an impression that the EC had allotted them a symbol with resemblance to the "Two Leaves" symbol.

Supporters of Amma faction staged a protest in front of the office of the returning officer seeking action against Panneerselvam faction for using the coffin model in the poll campaign.

Dhinakaran's men are in constant touch with the voters every day, looking after their daily needs and family problems, according to AIADMK officials.

The opposition parties contesting in the prestigious R.K. Nagar assembly constituency have alleged that Dinakaran is using "money power" to win the voters, a majority of whom are very poor.

One of the officials said "We did not work out a clear strategy from the beginning". DMK union leader Shanmugam, who is coordinating the campaign, is focusing on workers and not on the public.
