Active shooter reported at Dartmouth-Hitchock Medical Center; 1 in custody

Police from Lebanon, New Hampshire, as well as state troopers were on site, the spokesman said.

The hospital confirmed via Twitter the campus is "locked down following reports of an active shooter in the hospital" and said officials were assessing the situation.

Workers received an email earlier in the afternoon from the hospital for a "code silver", which means employees need to get out of the hospital if possible or if they can not leave, then they should shelter in place.

Shortly before 2 p.m. local time on Tuesday, authorities at a hospital in Lebanon, New Hampshire, broadcasted an "active shooter alert", local media outlets report. The Lebanon Police Department is asking people to avoid the area while roads around the hospital have been closed.

WCAX-TV reports an employee said all workers received an email from the hospital about a 'code silver, ' telling them to get out if possible and otherwise to shelter in place.
