A mob attempted to attack the Avenfield property of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's family here, British authorities said.

The father-daughter duo, now in London with Sharif's ailing wife Kulsoom Nawaz, is expected to return to Pakistan on Friday.

Meanwhile, the NAB has made a decision to request the caretaker government to provide a helicopter to it so that it can shift Sharif and Maryam to Islamabad after their arrival at the Lahore airport on July 14.

The father-daughter duo was sentenced on Friday to 11 and eight years in prison and slapped £8-million and £2-million fines, respectively, in relation to the Avenfield properties reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) last year. "We will make sure that Sharif and Maryam do not leave the airport and arrested there", he said.

A NAB official said taking both the convicts to Islamabad from the Lahore airport by road may require "elaborate security arrangements".

As some of them gained access to the apartment, one protester threw a shopping cart at Aijaz Gul, a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) United Kingdom unit.

An accountability court on Friday sentenced Nawaz Sharif to 10 years in prison for corrupt practices linked to his family's purchase of upscale London flats.
