At least that's what happened in the tale of Xiaoli (not her real name), a Chinese woman whose 20 boyfriends bought her iPhone 7s, which she then sold to get herself some real estate. And, she asked all of them to buy her a newly launched iPhone 7.
"Who knows what her boyfriends think now this news has become public", says Qiaboa.
The story went viral on the Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo, where the BBCreports a hashtag that translates to "20 mobiles for a house" has been used over 13 million times, with many women expressing admiration for Xiaoli's romantic and financial savvy. Xiola clearly has a way with large audiences.
Proud Qiaoba wrote in the blog post that when Xiaoli showed her new house to their group of friends, they were all very surprised when she revealed how she had managed to obtain the money for the deposit.
"I can't even find one boyfriend", wrote one Weibo user.
According to BBC News, Xiaoli had all 20 of the dudes she's dating buy her the new iPhone 7. Upon receiving the gifts, she turned around and sold all of the phones to a place called Hui Shou Bao which is a mobile phone recycling site. But another called Xiaoli "the most shameless person".
'Her parents are getting old and she might be under a lot pressure hoping to buy them a house... Her father is a migrant worker and her mother is a housewife. The story sounds like a joke, but BBC was able to confirm that the company purchased 20 iPhone 7s from a young female seller for roughly that same amount earlier this month. But it's still unbelievable that she could use this method!'
Because of the attention, Xiaoli has refused to do interviews claiming that her "day-to-day life has been affected (by the local media attention) and she doesn't want the media to continue covering this story".
