San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Joe Staley heads to the sidelines as he bleeds from under his right eye during an NFL football game against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday Oct. 29 2017 in Philadelphia

On his touchdown scoring play, Goodwin had Giants' corner Janoris Jenkins beat and ran the last 20 yards untouched to the end zone alone.

Goodwin's wife, Morgan Goodwin-Snow, had a premature delivery at 4 A.M. that day, and their son died due to complications following the birth.

"Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan", Goodwin said. Goodwin knelt in the end zone and then dropped to both knees after running for a 83-yard touchdown.

At the time, no one knew the tragic pain he and his wife, Morgan, endured during the early hours of Sunday morning.

The San Francisco 49ers got their first win under first-year head coach Kyle Shanahan on Sunday, beating the hapless New York Giants, 31-21.

According to NBC Sports Bay Area, Goodwin left the locker room quickly to be with his family following the game. Goodwin has shown tremendous strength in his performance as a player, but also as a father and a husband, on Sunday.

Both Goodwin and his wife attended the University of Texas at Austin and they Wednesday in February of 2016.

After the game, Goodwin shared a photo to his Instagram account, including a message that explained what had happened. After that long pass, Goodwin fell to his knees in prayer as his teammates gathered around him.

"I just wanna thank those who've genuinely prayed for @morganakamomo & myself through out this pregnancy". This was truly an wonderful experience and it was also a tragic experience.
